HELSINKI, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Four people were injured in a stabbing attack near a shopping center in the southern Finnish city of Tampere on Thursday afternoon, police said, adding that no one was killed.
Police said in a statement that the incident was not believed to be linked to terrorism or racial motives based on current information.
A suspect has been taken into custody, the statement said. Finnish public broadcaster Yle, citing a witness, reported that the suspect is male.
The incident occurred near the Ratina shopping complex, which is located in the very center of Tampere and adjacent to a major bus terminal.
Authorities said the scene had been secured and the lockdown in the area has been lifted. Police were alerted at 4:23 p.m. local time, according to the statement.
