It's going to cost less than previously announced to get from New York City to New Jersey for the World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium this summer.
The bus service run by the host committee, originally announced as an $80 round-trip ticket, will now cost $20, according to an announcement from New York governor Kathy Hochul.
This price drop is due to $6 million in additional state funding. Any people who bought tickets at the original price will receive $60 refunds.
The NJ Transit trains to MetLife, which normally cost $12.90 for a one-way ticket, will cost $98 for a round-trip ticket. That's reduced from the original announced price of $150 per ticket thanks to New Jersey's partnership with DoorDash, Audible and other sponsorships.
Those prices are not out of line from how much it will cost to attend one of the eight matches at MetLife Stadium this summer. The cheapest ticket for any of the matches in East Rutherford, N.J., on the Ticketmaster resale market is $544.50 as of Wednesday afternoon for the June 22 match between Norway and Senegal.
Tickets for the World Cup Final at MetLife on July 19 begin at $9,607.53 on Ticketmaster.
